Hungry Like the Wolf: Cancer's Full Moon

The first Full Moon of the year is here, in Cancer. The Wolf Moon. And the wolves are howling during this full moon. They are hungry.
What shall we feed them? What are they hungry for?
I suggest they are hungry for feeling, connection, and nurturance.
Mere hours after the full moon, Mars conjuncts the Moon. Two days after that, the Sun also opposes Mars.
This makes Mars, in retrograde in Cancer, an extra special player in this Full Moon cycle. It gives the Full Moon spiciness, challenge, and the edge of a warrior.
Here is the meaning I am making from this:
Mars in relationship to this Full Moon challenges us to feel.
There is so much to feel right now that it is hard to feel any of it. I find myself numbing in many different ways, noticing myself checking out because it is simply too much sometimes.
I have to give myself grace for this. No one person can hold all of this.
The risk during the Full Moon in Cancer is in thinking that we can nurture our way through this moment and hold all of it as individuals— the toxic lie of the modern mother.
But nurturing, holding, caring. healing, and loving are not solo acts.
These acts are communal, ongoing, relational, and process-oriented.
We will be tempted during this time to put bandaids on the pain, to stop the bleeding.
Let us instead take time to feel.
This is scary stuff, feeling. It is not easy, rational, or ready to be put in a box.
The act of feeling is a kind of labor. And it is a labor that is historically devalued— like rest, art, childhood, and parenting. Because of this, we are not practiced at the labor of feeling.
Feeling as a ritual.
Feeling as reverence.
Feeling as time-well-spent.
Take time to feel my friends. It is an act of revolution, to truly feel the pain of the world. It is an act of kindness.
This is activism too.
This is part of our movement right now. Coming back to feeling, and to each other. Reprioritizing connection and community nurturance in whatever ways we can.
No act of love is too small!
NO ACT OF LOVE IS TOO SMALL.
You might be feeling protective of yourself during this time as well. So include yourself in these acts of love and nurturance.
If the feeling is too big and can only be shared with one person, that is one person whose life was just changed by your love.
If you need to be alone to feel, you yourself have been changed by your love, acceptance, and kindness.
If you are alone, begin to notice the other beings who are, in fact, there with you— animals, plants, trees, the sky, the ocean, the air, the soil, the spider, the web, the light.
No act of love is too small.

sometimes I forget to feel the bleeding heart of this world the contraction and release of fires and floods and futures and fatalities the embryonic fluids of sadness I find it is easier to dis/re/member that loved ones are brutally dying that mothers are brutally birthing right now and now and even now sometimes I forget even to remember my child indelible mystery and his grief and his warp interchanging functions come back to this blood thrum
